Repair capacitor kit for BMW E23 E24 E28 early style instrument clusters
Does your early style E23 E24 or E28 instrument cluster show the following behavior:
-Service Interval shows an illogical combination of green/yellow/red LED’s
-Revolution meter (RPM) makes noise
-Temperature meter (Coolant) doesn’t work
-Speedometer inoperative or keeps blowing the fuse
And your SI board is not fully corroded by leaking batteries, then most likely you will also need to replace all your capacitors inside your instrument cluster.
Assuming you know a little bit about electronics and know how to correctly handle a soldering iron, here is a full kit to replace all caps.
It even comes with enough high quality tin to reinstall the caps and most important a piece of desoldering-wick to get the job done!
We will also provide a link to an instruction video to make it even easier for you.
A total of 3 caps go on the SI board, 2 go on the control board of the speedometer and another 3 go on the control board of the revolution meter.
Only this way you can be sure to solve any problems with your cluster board!
Make sure to double check which type of cluster board you have, counting the RED number of LED’s does the trick:
3 RED LED’s in the line of 5 green and 1 yellow mean you have an early type 1 cluster
1 RED LED in the line of 5 green and 1 yellow means you have a late type 2 cluster
